Wireless switches could be of help. Intolec are your local and trusted electrician in Warwickshire, who can safely and securely install Quinetic wireless switches to your home, taking away the mess of chasing out walls for inserting switches. Here is our guide to show you the benefits of wireless switches.

What are Wireless Switches?

A wireless switch allows you to control your lights or lamps from anywhere in your home. Unlike traditional switches, a wireless switch does not need to be wired into your home electrical system, meaning you can turn on a light without being in the same room.  A standard wireless swich can transmit a signal up to 30m indoors and 160m outdoors. You can also control a dimmable switch at distances of 25m indoors and 80m outdoors. You can turn on the garden shed light, which is located at the top of the garden, all whilst you’re in the comfort of your home. Wireless switches can be placed on an internal wall or even kept handheld so you can carry it around with you. One receiver can be controlled by up to 10 switches or you can install 1 switch to control an unlimited number of receivers.

How Does Wireless Switches Work?

A Quinetic wireless switch uses a built-in micro energy generator to convert kinetic energy to electricity. This allows a radio signal to connect to a receiver to turn on the lights with a press of the switch. Kinetic switches are self-powered so there is no need for any battery supply.

The Benefits of Wireless Switches

Taking as little as 5 minutes to install, a wireless switch can improve your lighting without the need to chase out walls. This causes a lot less disruption to your home and is also more cost effective. Using none of your homes power supply and no need to replace batteries, wireless switches save you money and are also environmentally friendly. With there stylish appearance and being 100% waterproof, these are a modern improvement to any home. Who wouldn’t want to control the light from the comfort of your bed?

Installation of a Wireless Switches

Kinetic switches must be paired with a receiver to allow you to control the lights. Although there is no need to chase out walls to install the switch, some electrical work is still required. The light itself will need to have a receiver installed to enable a switch to connect to it. Like all electrical work, it is important for a qualified electrician to install your lights and receiver. This ensures that the product has been correctly fitted and will limit the dangers around your home electrics.
